Arroz Dacsa delivers more than 150,000 kg of rice to various social entities in the Valencian Community.

Arroz Dacsa strengthens rice donations during the exceptional situation caused by Coronavirus to meet the demands of those most in need.
The Valencian brand Arroz Dacsa, belonging to the Dacsa Group, has delivered 150,000 kg of rice to various social entities in the Valencian Community, among which are The Food Bank, “Caritas”, Red Cross and “Casa Caridad”, for families in a situation of vulnerability aggravated by the Coronavirus crisis.

The donations of rice are already in the warehouses of the different associations for immediate distribution among those most in need.

Arroz Dacsa will continue its work to support the different associations to meet the collective needs of those who are affected by the Coronavirus Crisis.


Dacsa Group strengthens its positioning by completing the 100% acquisition of Dacsa Atlantic

Dacsa Group has completed the 100% acquisition of the Portuguese company Dacsa Atlantic, which had, up to now, been a 50% shareholding.

Dacsa Atlantic, previously called Atlantic Meals, is a leading Portuguese company in its sector dedicated to the drying, storage, processing and commercialization of rice and maize milling products for the food industry, brewery industry and the large distibution chains, with recognized rice brands like Ceifeira, Atlantic, LeChef and Sorraia.

The company has an industrial plant in Monte da Barca (Coroche), for the drying and milling of rice and maize with a capacity of more than 90.000 tn/year. In addition, counts with industrial facilities located in Biscainho, dedicated to the receipt, drying and storage of cereals, it also has commercial offices in Lisbon.

This operation involves strengthening the market positioning of Dacsa Group and its consolidation as a leader in the milling industry at European level. The synergies between the two companies in the areas of origination, commercialization and operations will help to improve service and better serve market needs.

Dacsa Group participates in the #UVcapacitas program

On July 1st, Dacsa Group participated in the first of 4 #SpeedNetworking online sessions of the #UVcapacitas program, which is managed by #UVocupació with the collaboration of Santander Bank,  to improve the placement into employment of people with disabilities.

Nine participants from the Social and Legal Sciences area participated in the session. This is a business-to-candidate approach that facilitates the presentation of student nominations to companies, in a dynamic manner, through personal interviews of less than 5 minutes.

Dacsa made a presentation of its operations, the departments related to the profiles, and the participants below showed their candidature with a few short interviews.

The session was a success! Both Dacsa and the participants appreciated being part of this activity in order to showcase talent and to improve job inclusion. Diversity in business and labour inclusion is essential for us to grow as a Society.

The Utility Miller is responsible for the sanitation, operational maintenance and cover of the mill operation and loading when required

Essential Job Duties:

  • Responsible for sanitation tasks.
  • Provides mill operator relief when required.
  • Provides cover for bulk loading and bag loading when required.
  • Performs weekly duties from the Master Sanitation Checklist.
  • Performs maintenance duties such as with sifters, seperators, combi cleaners etc.
  • At all times an employee needs to be actively maintaining safety culture.
  • Follows Plant GMP requirements and always be thinking of food safety when working on or around equipment
  • Works independently by being able to find new tasks when done with other essential job
  • functions, without being guided to do so
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Non-Essential Job Duties:

  • Assists with maintenance personnel as needed
  • Performs various mill projects as they arise
  • Cleans elevator pits
  • Performs other duties as assigned

New products with GMP + certification

At Dacsa Group we have gone a step further in the quality of the products we offer to our customers and for that reason we have acquired the GMP + certification that certifies that our maize germ and bran meal are produced following strict quality protocols.

Bran meal is obtained during the process of bleaching rice using a polishing machine. This flour contains part of the bran and the germ of the rice removed by the abrasion of the grain.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of these masks goes to the work of Payasospital, who visit children admitted to eight hospitals across the Valencian Region.

Dacsa Group has been recognised for its commitment to corporate social responsibility with the EcoVadis Silver Medal. This honour recognizes the company’s work at four levels: Environment, Labour Practices and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.

EcoVadis continuously evaluates and monitors the management and scope of Corporate Social Responsibility of companies, while providing tools to drive their improvement. The rating methodology of EcoVadis is based on Corporate Social Responsibility criteria structured in four main categories: Environment, Labour Practices and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.

These criteria follow international standards in Social Responsibility as contained in the agreements of the International Labor Organization, the Global Reporting Initiative Standard and ISO 26000.

Receiving the EcoVadis Silver Medal demonstrates ongoing recognition for Dacsa Group’s sustainability and corporate responsibility efforts in 2020.

Dacsa Group and Skills UP programme

Dacsa Group is collaborating with the Polytechnic University of Valencia in the Skills UP programme, which aims to connect university studies with changing, real–world, labour demands.

 


It is intended for students and graduates, who will develop valuable extracurricular activities within the university environment. The SKills Up programme will involve the participation of 12 strategic companies working with the UPV that, through Masterclasses, will improve the employability and entrepreneurial skills of the participants, thus promoting the key interdisciplinary skills that graduates need.

Among the companies that will participate together with Dacsa Group are: Airbus, BBVA, Capgemini, EY, Ferrovial, Ford, Huawei, Power Electronics, PWC, Sothis and Torrecid. The participating companies will give training sessions on different topics. In this way, participants will gain first hand knowledge of the company and share their experience. In our case, it will be our colleague Manuel Ochoa who will give the training session in the programme: “Trends in food production, sustainability and genetic modification”.

It is an association that was created in the´80s to give a voice to companies dedicated to corn milling in Europe, of which Dacsa Group has been a member since 1986. Corn milling has specific and different needs than milling from other cereals, such as wheat; for this reason, it was necessary to create an association to defend these interests in the European Union.

Today, Euromaisiers is made up of 23 companies from more than 10 countries of the European Union. It is based in Belgium and its governing body is made up of a president and two vice-presidents who are elected every four years. The members of this association process 90% of the corn supply in Europe for the production of flour, grits and by-products.

  • Confident 1C Manufacturing user. Strong capabilities in MS Excel.
  • Desirable knowledge in Microsoft Dynamics ERP
  • Any food industry experience

Dacsa Group and the Club de Innovación de la Comunitat Valenciana

On November 26, Dacsa Group received the award for the best innovative organization at the III Innovation Awards organized by the Club de Innovación de la Comunitat Valenciana. Our executive director, Araceli Císcar, received the award for the innovation management report presented by Dacsa Group. The report describes the management of all areas of innovation from the registration of ideas to the launch plans. In addition, improvement and innovation projects in other areas such as IT, customer service and Human Resources were included.

 

The Innovation Awards aim to help participating companies and organizations take innovation as an essential element of their strategy and management, encouraging innovation to be approached according to structured models / systems, which help to improve competitiveness and serve as an instrument of prestige and recognition of the Innovation Club.

 

The awards ceremony was chaired by Francisco Mora, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, who was the president of the jury that selected the winners.
